N Chessie System – Baltimore & Ohio Rd# 356823

Built in September 1976 by Pullman Standard, this Chessie System gondola was placed into general service. Chessie System was formed through the 1972 mergers of Chesapeake & Ohio, Baltimore & Ohio, and Western Maryland. It remained one of the largest East coast railroads until 1986 when Seaboard System merged with Chessie to form today’s rail giant, CSX Transportation.
